At Island Grill & Pub, every plate tells a story. It’s a story that starts in Jamaica.
Meet Steve
Our owner, Christopher, known to everyone as Steve, came to the United States from Jamaica with a love for cooking and a big heart for people. Back home, food is how you show love. It’s how families gather, how neighbors become friends, and how culture gets passed from one generation to the next.
Steve wanted to bring that feeling to Rock Hill.
Bringing people together
Island Grill & Pub was built on a simple idea: good food brings people together. Steve loves to cook, and he loves to see a full table, laughing, sharing and coming back for more. Whether it’s a family dinner, a quick lunch, or a night at the pub with friends, he wants every guest to feel at home.
Sharing Jamaican culture, one plate at a time
From our oxtails, slow-cooked until they fall off the bone, to our jerk chicken straight off the lava rock grill, our curry goat, rice & peas, beef patties, rasta pasta and fresh ginger lemonade, every dish is a taste of the island. It’s the food Steve grew up on, made with care and shared with pride.
Part of the Rock Hill family
Steve didn’t just want to open a restaurant. He wanted to be part of the community. Rock Hill welcomed us, and we’re proud to be a Black-owned, family-owned business serving our neighbors, Winthrop families, and friends from Fort Mill and Charlotte.
Back after the fire, and thankful
When a fire closed our doors, it was one of the hardest times for our family. Months of rebuilding later, we reopened on August 15, 2026, and you showed up. We will never forget the love and loyalty this community showed us. Thank you, Rock Hill.
